I must confess that 10 years ago I had never heard of wedding ring cushions. When people first started emailing asking me to make ring cushions, I assumed it was part of some religion I was not familiar with! Surely in the traditional English wedding, the Best Man kept (and always pretended to lose!) the rings?

But a little research showed that, like so much in our society, wedding ring cushions are a European tradition that have come to us via America – which truly is ‘the land of the Big Wedding’. If you are struggling to organise a wedding, be thankful you are not in the US, where wedding planning has become a nightmare – Oh the humiliation if the napkins at your pre-wedding-rehearsal-dinner are not co-ordinated the wedding colour theme!

Wedding ring cushions have certainly caught on in Britain because they can be very useful. It is very difficult to find anything for pageboys to carry down the aisle. Our cushions have a fabric strap across the back, which make them easy to carry, and have ribbons to attach the rings securely. We also include dummy rings in case you do not trust your pages with the real thing – I am told that in the hands of small boys, ring cushions make excellent Frisbees!

If you are planning a civil ceremony, the wedding  ring cushion can be placed on the registrar’s table, which adds a little added touch to the ceremony.
